Bluestone pool surround Mount Kisco, NY
- Problem
- Pool deck needed a finished stone surround that would drain through freeze-thaw cycles.
- Work completed
- Irregular bluestone set around the pool with pitch away from the coping.
- Materials
- Bluestone, compacted base, drainage behind the stone.
- Result
- Finished surround pitched so meltwater does not sit against the stone.
Bluestone terrace with drainage Westchester County, NY
- Problem
- Patio collected water against the house and needed a surface that would shed runoff.
- Work completed
- Bluestone terrace with cobble edge and river-rock drainage bed.
- Materials
- Bluestone, granite cobble, river rock, compacted base.
- Result
- Water leaves the joints instead of sitting through a freeze.
Stairs and retaining wall rebuilt as one structure Westchester County, NY
- Problem
- A failing set of outdoor stairs and the retaining wall beside them, moving apart from each other after years of water getting behind both.
- Work completed
- Took both down and rebuilt them together: excavation behind the wall line, a compacted stone base, drainage behind the new wall, and treads reset course by course as the wall came up.
- Materials
- Natural stone treads and wall stone on a compacted crushed-stone base.
- Result
- One structure instead of two leaning on each other, with the water that caused the failure now routed out instead of trapped behind it.
An overgrown pool patio brought back Westchester County, NY
- Problem
- A bluestone pool patio that grass had overrun, with joints lost to turf and stones settling out of level around the pool.
- Work completed
- Lifted the field, corrected the base underneath, re-set the same stone, and cleaned the surround back to a working patio.
- Materials
- The original bluestone, re-set rather than replaced.
- Result
- The patio the owners already paid for once, back in service without buying new stone.
