Landscaping and masonry in Mamaroneck, NY
Every Mamaroneck homeowner has an Ida story, and most yard conversations here end up about water. Ours start there: grade first, planting and stone built on top of a yard that drains.

Village, Town and Rye Neck, all of it
Mamaroneck is a municipal maze: the Village straddling its two rivers, the unincorporated Town wrapped around Larchmont, and Rye Neck across the harbor technically in the Town of Rye. Contractors who do not know the difference learn it at permit time.
We work all of it, from Orienta and Shore Acres to the Washingtonville side and the Town streets toward Larchmont, and we know which rules apply where.
Yards built for the next storm
Ida put the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake rivers through living rooms, and the storms since have kept the lesson fresh. The Army Corps is rebuilding the channel; what happens on your lot is still up to your grade.
We rebuild yards to move water on purpose: regrading away from the foundation, downspouts extended past the beds, swales and rain gardens where they fit, French drains and dry wells where they genuinely help. None of it stops a river. All of it decides what an ordinary storm does to your basement.
Masonry that holds up to water
The village is spending millions on concrete walls along the river because walls are what hold ground against water. The residential version is the same physics: retaining walls with drainage behind the face, raised patios that keep living space above the wet, steps and walks reset on bases that frost and saturation cannot heave.
We build and repair all of it, in stone that suits the house.
Every job here starts the same way: a twenty-minute walkthrough and a written price.
Salt air on the Sound side
Orienta, Shore Acres and the harbor blocks take real salt exposure, and planting there is its own list. The inland half of town grows things the shore side cannot keep alive.
We plant by exposure, structure beds so tough material shelters soft, and say plainly at the estimate what will not survive the spray.
What affects the price in Mamaroneck
Water, exposure and access set the number on both sides of town.
Common factors:
- Drainage scope and discharge planning
- Wall height and the drainage behind it
- Salt-tolerant planting near the harbor
- Village or town review where it applies
- Access on compact village lots
- Seasonal contract versus one-time work

Common questions
If yours is not here, call (914) 486-3682. Someone answers seven days a week.
All three. They are different municipalities with different rules, which matters at permit time, and we keep them straight so you do not have to.
It reduces what your lot contributes and where ordinary storm water ends up. Grade, drains and surfaces decide whether a normal storm reaches the basement. A river cresting is a different problem, and we are honest about that line.
Some do, depending on height, location and which municipality the property sits in. Nelson flags it at the walkthrough so review comes before scheduling.
A shorter, tougher list than inland Mamaroneck. We plant by exposure and tell you at the estimate which wish-list plants the spray will take.
It depends on water, scope, exposure and access. A drainage rebuild prices differently than a planting renovation. Nelson walks the property and leaves a written scope and price. The visit is free. Call (914) 486-3682.
